DC Bocce - H STREET

DC Bocce opened a new bocce club on H Street and wanted to promote it to potential players and fans. They required a comprehensive ad campaign that would include various pieces such as a magazine ad, bus side ad, bus shelter ad, posters, tee shirts, and a tote bag.

CLIENT BACKGROUND:

DC Bocce is a recreational sports league that operates in the Washington D.C. area. They recently opened a new bocce club on H Street and wanted to promote it to potential players. They approached me to design a comprehensive ad campaign that would include various pieces such as a magazine ad, bus side ad, bus shelter ad, posters, tee shirts, and a tote bag.

PROJECT SCOPE:

As the lead designer, I was responsible for designing all the ad campaign pieces. The scope of the project included research and analysis, creative concepting, visual design, and production.

DISCOVERY PHASE:

I began the project by conducting research and analysis of the client’s industry, competitors, and target audience. I also conducted a brand workshop with the client to gather insights into their values, mission, and vision.

CREATIVE CONCEPTING PHASE:

Based on my research and insights, I developed several creative concepts that conveyed the client’s brand image and appealed to the target audience. I presented these concepts to the client and received feedback on their preferences and suggestions for revisions.

DESIGN AND PRODUCTION PHASE:

Once the design was finalized, I began the production process for all the ad campaign pieces. I designed a magazine ad that was eye-catching and featured a unique offer for new players. For the bus side and bus shelter ads, I created bold, colorful graphics that could be easily seen from a distance.

For the posters, I developed several versions that were placed around H Street and in nearby neighborhoods. The posters featured different taglines and images to attract different segments of the target audience.

I also designed tee shirts and a tote bag for giveaways to promote the new club. The tee shirts and tote bag featured the DC Bocce logo and a tagline that reinforced the message of the ad campaign.

RESULTS:

The comprehensive advertising campaign successfully positioned DC Bocce’s H Street Club as a vibrant and inclusive destination within the H Street community, resulting in increased membership and a thriving bocce community. The cohesive design approach and targeted messaging played a key role in the campaign’s success, effectively communicating the unique experience and inviting individuals to join the bocce fun at DC Bocce’s H Street Club.

LESSONS LEARNED:

Through this project, I learned the importance of developing a comprehensive ad campaign that includes multiple pieces to reach a broader audience. I also learned the importance of collaborating closely with the client to ensure that their values, mission, and vision were reflected in the ad campaign. Finally, I learned the importance of conducting extensive research and analysis to understand the target audience and develop creative concepts that appeal to them.
